Standoff ends at Hillsborough Avenue condo

TOWN N' COUNTRY, Fla. - A standoff situation involving a barricaded man at a condominium complex on Hillsborough Avenue ended around 1:45 p.m.

A Hillsborough County deputy tried to serve an eviction notice to 59-year-old William Paxton Elliott, Friday morning at the Tudor Cay Condominiums in Town 'N Country.

Deputies say Elliott  was armed and confronted the deputy. 

It's unclear exactly what happened next, but the deputy tried to protect himself by locking himself in a bathroom.

The deputy was able to safely escape a short time later.  The suspect then barricaded himself inside the unit.

According to reports from the scene, the suspect was taken from a unit on a stretcher.

Deputies told ABC Action News Elliott was severely intoxicated and has been baker acted.

All residents in the surrounding units were evacuated and Hillsborough Ave. was shut down between Sussex and Memorial during the standoff.  It has reopened.
