The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office held a gun buyback in July of 2007, but did not keep records of the event. In February of 2013, they held the most successful gun buyback in recent history, collecting 2,541 guns.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office held 3 buybacks in December 2009, February 2010, and April 2011, collecting 279 guns in total.
The Tampa Police Department held a gun buyback in December of 2011, taking in 1,000 guns.
The Lakeland Police Department held gun buybacks in November and December of 2008, collecting 431 guns. They stated the “vast majority” of guns collected were inoperable.
The Clearwater Police Department held 2 gun buybacks in June 2011, working with the Largo Police Department. They collected 188 guns.
