Sarah Palin beating Katie Couric in morning show ratings

"Today" pulled off the ratings win for the second morning in a row in their face-off against former host Katie Couric.

With Sarah Palin on board as a guest host, 5.497 million viewers tuned in to "Today" Tuesday, Mediabistro's TVNewser reports.

ABC's "Good Morning America," which has Couric as a guest co-host this week, wasn't far behind with 5.141 million watching Tuesday's show.

Couric's guest hosting on Monday's edition of "GMA" also wasn't enough to beat her old job in ratings.

On Monday, "GMA" brought in 4.8 million viewers, reports the L.A. Times, while 5.1 million tuned in to NBC that morning.

It's another chapter in the lengthy ratings battle between the two shows, with "GMA" trailing "Today" for almost 17 years, the paper notes, although lately the morning program has been closing in on the ratings gap.
