I could not wait to turn on "The Bachelor" Monday night to see how the first set of dates would go. The 18 ladies were eager to show Juan Pablo that they were his perfect match.
Clare got the first one-on-one date. I was smiling from ear to ear as Juan Pablo swept her away to a winter wonderland… right in the middle of Los Angeles. They played in the snow, went ice-skating, and shared an emotional conversation in the hot tub. My heart went out to Clare as she told him about the loss of her father. I have been cheering for her from the start. Her sense of humor and genuine personality seem to be pulling Juan Pablo to her. No surprise she got a rose and the first kiss of the season. It is clear this pair has chemistry. The other ladies better watch out.
The electricity was flowing during the second one-on-one date, literally. Juan Pablo and Kat arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah for the "Electric Run." The music was thumping as the pair ran through thousands of people. The night ended on the stage where Juan Pablo presented her with a rose. I'm not sure how I feel about Kat. Despite her cute, fun demeanor, I am not sure if I feel the chemistry. We'll have to see if they have what it takes to go the distance.
Meanwhile, back at the house, 13 women found out they would be going on the group date.
They were surprised when they arrived at a photo shoot to benefit the "Best Friends Animal Society." Each of the ladies was assigned a costume and paired with a pooch in need of a loving home. However, Andi and Elise were less than thrilled when they found out they would be posing without any clothes on.
In the end, the photo shoot was a success, but that was all about to change.
After one too many drinks, Victoria turned into a hot mess. She locked herself in the bathroom and not even Juan Pablo and all his cuteness could console her. It was clear he was not impressed.
Kelly got the rose on the group date and I was puzzled. Their interaction seemed minimal and uninspired. We'll have to see where that goes.
The next day, Juan Pablo went to resolve his issues with Victoria. After giving what I thought to be a poor attempt of an apology, she was sent home. This "Bachelor" junkie definitely saw that one coming.
Several of the ladies were on edge as they waited for the rose ceremony. Sharleen apologized for her awkward acceptance of the first impression rose. Cassandra broke down as she questioned whether or not she should stay in the competition.
In the end, two women were sent home.
Spoiler Alert !
…And the roses go to…
Alli, Andi, Cassandra, Chelsie, Christy, Danielle, Elise, Kelly, Lauren S., Lucy, Renee and Sharleen.
I was glued to the preview of next week episode. It looks like the claws come out as the women get competitive. You know this "Bachelor" junkie will be anxious to see what happens next.
The search for love continues Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC Action News.
