Ladies, get ready to swoon! Juan Pablo Galavis is back for Season 18 of "The Bachelor," and this time he is calling the shots.
We met Juan Pablo last season on "The Bachelorette," as he hoped to win over Desiree Hartsock. The devoted single father melted the hearts of women everywhere. His charm, dashing good looks and "knight in shining armor" personality made him irresistible. Alas, his romance with Desiree was not meant to be, and he was sent home.
This season, the Venezuelan heartthrob is not holding back during his journey to find a soul mate.
As the first episode unfolded, Juan Pablo expressed his devotion to his 4-year-old daughter Camilla. I thought it was a great display of character when he moved his family into "The Bachelor" mansion, something that had never been done on the show.
Then it came time to meet the 27 women fighting for his heart. That's right, 27 women! Due to popular demand, the number of ladies increased this season from 25 to 27.
One by one, they eagerly stepped out of the limos. You could feel the awkward introductions coming, but one really made me cringe. I wanted to change the channel as Lauren S. rolled up playing her piano bike. She was trying so hard, but it was not executed well.
You could feel the tears coming during the cocktail party. Lauren H.'s meltdown was hard to watch as she waited for one on one time with Juan Pablo and reminisced about her past failed relationship.
Meanwhile, Sharleen was shocked to receive the first impression rose, and so was everyone else! I have to admit this was the only moment I questioned Juan Pablo's judgment. It did not seem like the chemistry was there. He said he was impressed by her elegance and enjoyed hearing about her travels. But during Sharleen's interview she admitted her uncertainty, saying their conversation felt forced. I guess only time will tell where that relationship goes.
The most awkward moment of night happened as the names were called during the rose ceremony. Kylie thought she heard her name and rushed up to Juan Pablo with a huge smile. You could tell her heart dropped when she realized he was calling for Kat. I commend Kylie for trying to keep a brave face.
In the end, 27 women entered and only 18 remain.
This "Bachelor" junkie has high hopes for the remaining ladies this season.
Here are my predictions for the top five:
No doubt this season will be full of tears, drama and surprises.
