TAMPA - Traffic traveling the westbound Selmon (Crosstown) Expressway into downtown Tampa cannot use Exit 8/Kennedy Boulevard for the next month. The Florida Department of Transportation closed the exit on Sunday, April 14, for reconstruction.
DETOUR: Use Exit 7/Downtown-West (Morgan Street/ Brorein Street) to downtown Tampa. To go to Kennedy Boulevard, after exiting, turn right onto Morgan Street and go north to Kennedy Boulevard.
FDOT's contractor is replacing bridge decks and widening the Selmon Expressway from west of Morgan Street to east of 19th Street. Bridge deck panels are being replaced with cast-in-place concrete bridge decks from west of Morgan Street to just east of 12th Street. Roadway widening is underway eastbound from Washington Street to east of 19th Street; and westbound from east of 19th Street to west of Morgan Street.
The $64.4 million project began in October, 2011.
