Traffic updates for Monday morning, August 6

TAMPA - DADE CITY: Three people were killed in a crash on US-98/McKethan Road north of Trilby Road around 10 PM Sunday night. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Joshua Brock, 22, of Dade City was driving north on US-98 when he crossed into the path of an oncoming semi. The semi hit the vehicle, then burst into flames. Brock, and a one-year-old passenger, Jason Brock, were killed. The driver of the semi, Leslie Blanton (56) of Riverview, also died in the crash. Michael Blanton, a passenger in the semi, received minor injuries.

HUDSON: Two people were killed in a crash on US-19 in Hudson Sunday night. The FHP report says 81-year-old Albert Friedman of Hudson was driving a VW north on 19, and swerved into a Saturn, causing both cars to crash. The driver of the Saturn, 46-year-old Bridgette Ewing of Spring Hill and her passenger, 47-year-old Vincent P. Dicristo, of Port Richey, were killed. According to the FHP report, it's suspected that Friedman was drinking or had been drinking at the time of the crash. Charges are pending.

SARASOTA COUNTY: A young man was killed in a crash on I-75 near Toledo Blade Road in Sarasota County early Sunday morning. FHP says Aphrodite Tayla Karys, 20, lost control of her vehicle. A 20-year-old passenger, Matthew Phillip Stephens, 20, of North Port died in the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Karys and two teenagers in the car, Paige Ellen Phillips, 18, and Samantha Marie Johnson, 16, were not seriously injured.
