TAMPA BAY - Southbound I-275 Exit 41A ramp to southbound Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa has closed permanently, as part of FDOT's ongoing $215.4 million reconstruction project. Southbound I-275 traffic must use the existing Exit 41 B ramp to northbound Dale Mabry, re-labeled Exit 41A/B. Traffic signals at the bottom of the ramp direct traffic to turn right to northbound Dale Mabry, or left to southbound Dale Mabry.
The ramps to I-275 from Dale Mabry are not impacted by this change.
Some confusion is expected initially. FDOT says if you miss Exit 41A/B, you can use the next exit (40B/Lois) and either go turn right onto Lois, right onto Cypress and east to Dale Mabry, or turn left at the Lois exit and go south to Kennedy, left onto Kennedy and east to Dale Mabry.
According to FDOT, an expected 12,000-13,000 vehicles will use the I-275 Exit 41A/B daily. Approximately 175,000 vehicles drive through that area daily.
FDOT is rebuilding and widening Interstate 275 from east of State Road 60 to the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa. The $215.4 million project is estimated to be completed in Fall, 2016.
