TAMPA BAY - The Reversible Express Lanes (REL) of the Selmon Expressway will be closed westbound (toward Tampa) at 10 AM Thursday, December 20. Drivers may still use the REL between 6-10 AM. The lower level of the Selmon Expressway will remain open in both directions. The US-301 ramp will be turned east (towards Brandon) at 10 AM and the entire REL will open eastbound, as usual, at 1:30 PM.
The closure is required as part of a $64 million project by FDOT to replace bridge decks and widen the Selmon Expressway, from west of Morgan Street to east of 19th Street. Contractors will be setting beams across the REL, a task that must be accomplished in daylight hours for safety purposes as well as delivery restrictions of the beams.
