TAMPA - CSX and The Florida Department of Transportation closed 66th Street N. at the railroad tracks near 90th Avenue (located between Park Boulevard and Bryan Dairy Road) at approximately 4AM Friday morning for replacement of the railroad crossing. FDOT says the repairs are expected to take one week. Traffic is detoured west to Belcher Road, or east to US-19.

WEEKEND EVENTS:

  • Thousands of people are expected in Clearwater and Clearwater Beach for the 2012 Bright House Clearwater Super Boat National Championship and Seafood Festival. Cleveland Street will be closed Friday, 5:30-10PM for the Blast Friday block party. Saturday, the Seafood Festival will be held at Coachman Park, 11AM-8PM and includes a fireworks show. Sunday's “fastest show on water” will involve super boats reaching speeds up to 180 mph just off the shore of Clearwater Beach. An estimated 25,000 people attended last year. Heavy traffic should be anticipated near the beach, especially along Memorial Causeway. More information is at this link.
  • USF plays Florida State at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday at 6PM, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the Redskins on Sunday at 4:25PM. Expect delays near the stadium, located at Dale Mabry and Himes in Tampa, before and after the games.
