Tampa 3rd least affordable city to live in because of transportation costs, says report

A new report lists Tampa as the 3rd least affordable U.S. city based on its high transportation costs. The cities that beat the Bay area are Miami and Riverside, Calif.

The report released by the The Center for Housing Policy and Center for Neighborhood Technology rated cities based on the cost of getting to work and the increasing costs of homes in the area, when compared to how much most families earn. 

Cities that are commonly thought of as expensive, like New York and Washington, D.C., rated as affordable in the joint study. That's because of high median incomes and expansive public transportation.
