TAMPA - There were few players more coveted than Wharton High School's Vernon Hargreaves III in this year's college football recruiting class. The Parade All-American and MVP of last month's Under Armour All-America game at Tropicana Field, will highlight the Florida Gators' class, which is ranked third in the country by Yahoo.
Even Vernon's dad, Vernon, Jr., couldn't sway him from that decision. The son chose Florida over many of the top programs in the country, as well as USF, where his dad coached the past three seasons and over the University of Houston, where his dad was just hired this week as the new linebackers coach.
Click on the video above for Vernon's story, as well as what his dad said was his biggest sales pitch as he tried to recruit his son.
