TAMPA - Maybe, just maybe, the Bucs are closing in on hiring one coordinator.
Acccording to FOXSports.com, Schiano is considering Ron Turner and Bill Lazor for offensive coordinator.
Turner, who spent last season as the Colts' quarterbacks coach, had two stints as the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator and was the head coach at Illinois.
He also was on Tony Dungy’s list of offensive coordinator hires back in 1996 when Turner was with the Bears.
Lazor is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Virginia and has NFL experience coaching quarterbacks at Washington and Seattle.
It’s also being reported that Schiano will bring at least four members of his Rutgers coaching staff to Tampa Bay: P.J. Fleck (receivers), Bob Fraser (linebackers), Brian Angelichio (tight ends) and Jeff Haley (defensive backs).
Still no word on what direction the Bucs are going for defensive coordinator since Gators D-Coordinator Dan Quinn turned down the job.
This hiring process hasn’t been easy. Outside of Quinn turning down a job, the team has been denied permission to talk to Cardinals receivers coach John McNulty and Packers tight ends coach Ben McAdoo.
