ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Alex Cobb has been released from Bayfront Medical Center after being hit in the head by a line drive in last night's Rays-Royals game.
Cobb has been put on a 7-day concussion DL list and his timetable to return hasn't been decided.
Cobb was hit directly on the side of his head by a line drive off the bat of Eric Hosmer in the fifth inning of last night's game.
The incident was eerily exact to the incident that sent B.J. Happ of Toronto to the DL a month earlier at the Trop.
Last month, Cobb was asked about protective gear for pitchers to combat exactly this type of injury.
Cobb was all for it, as long as the protective gear didn't feel cumbersome.
We'll have more from Alex Cobb tonight on ABC Action News at 6.
