Cincinnati Bengals re-sign Wallace Gilberry to 3-year deal one year after he was cut from the Bucs

The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed Wallace Gilberry to a three-year, $6.75 million deal Sunday, continuing the efforts to keep in-house players before free agency. The 28-year-old defensive end came to Cincinnati just a year ago after being cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

 

Gilberry played in 14 games for the Bengals last season, recording 24 tackles, 6.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries in 353 total snaps. A situational pass rusher, Gilberry made the most of the action he saw, generating at least one sack or hurry on opposing quarterbacks in each of his last nine games in 2012.

 

Entering the league as an undrafted free agent, Gilberry has already been a part of four teams after serving brief stints with the Bucs and New York Giants. The Bengals signed him last year just three weeks into the regular season.

 

Gilberry helped the Bengals finish with the sixth-ranked defense in terms of yards allowed. He will continue to fill his same role going forward in 2013. Cincinnati came away with a good deal here.
