TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued to rebuild a porous defense by selecting Nebraska linebacker Lavonte David in the second round of the NFL draft.

David was the 58th overall selection, and the Bucs moved up to get him Friday night by pulling off yet another trade.

The team traded down two spots Thursday before selecting Alabama safety Mark Barron in the first round. They later traded up from the second round to select Boise State running back Doug Martin with the 31st pick of the opening round.

To land David, the Bucs sent a third- and fourth-round pick to Houston. Tampa Bay received a seventh-round pick in addition to the second-rounder used to bolster one of the league's worst defenses.
