TAMPA - Here's hoping Aric Almirola is not superstitious. The Tampa native's week at Daytona was focused around one unlucky number in particular. He finished 13th in the second Budweiser Duel. He started the 500 on the 13th row, and went on to finish 13th in the Great American Race.
But there's another number that's mostly on his mind. It's 43. Almirola drives the 43 car for owner and seven-time NASCAR champion Richard Petty. He has huge shoes to fill, as he begins his second full Sprint Cup season.
We spoke to Aric and Petty one-on-one this week, as they prepared for the race, with both admitting that the pressure is undeniable for the Hillsborough High School alum. Click on the story above to see who Aric says he's trying to win for most--beyond even Petty himself.
