Ninety percent of Olympic athletes that are using banned substances get away with it, according to a former World Anti-Doping Agency chief.

Dick Pound, who retired from WADA in 2008, said that that maybe 10 percent of athletes dope, and the agency only catches one or two of them, CNN reports.

Accusations of cheating have been swirling around 16-year-old Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen, who has set a world record in the 2012 London Olympics.

Shiwen denies the accusations and chalks her performance up to hard work and training.

Pound told CNN that most athletes on drugs prepare ahead and use drugs before the Olympics.

He said drug testers are constantly playing catch up with new drugs constantly immerging in the doping scene.
