TAMPA, Fla. - An independent drug test taken by Buccaneer Mike Williams hours after his DUI arrest came up clean, team officials said Monday.

General Manager Mark Dominick said Williams, who was arrested last week for DUI, volunteered to take the test.

No one from the team asked him to do so, Dominick said.

The test was conducted at an independent agency after Williams bonded out of jail Friday morning.

The test showed Williams did not have any drugs in his system, according to the team.

Detectives are still waiting on results from the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office own drug test.

Deputies said Williams had glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol when he was pulled over early Friday morning in Brandon for going 12 miles over the speed limit.

However, when Williams took a breathalyzer test at the Hillsborough County Jail, he registered a 0.065 blood alcohol level (BAC). That is below the 0.08 BAC threshold at which a driver is considered impaired by Florida law.

Despite the arrest, Williams did start in Sunday’s game against the 49ers, and scored a touchdown in the third quarter.
