ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Florida Governor Rick Scott will throw the ceremonial first pitch before the Tampa Bay Rays season-opening game on Friday, April 1.
Scott was elected as Florida's 45th governor this past November, and will be the second to deliver the first pitch at a Rays home opener. Former Governor Charlie Crist was similarly honored for the games in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Just days ago, Scott was booed throwing the first pitch at a spring training game between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York at the Yankees' spring training complex.
The Rays take on the Baltimore Orioles on Opening Day at Tropicana Field at April 1 at 7:10 p.m.
