Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher David Price won his 20th game of the season with a solid effort against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Afterward, Price said that he deserved to win the AL Cy Young award :
And after dismissing the topic and dodging the questions for weeks, Price finally said after the game that he indeed felt he was worthy.
"One hundred percent," he said. "I would vote for myself, yes."
As a result of Price's victory, the Rays stayed alive in the race for a playoff spot. While they cannot win the AL East at this point, they have a shot at snagging a Wild Card berth. They are three games behind the Oakland Athletics , who currently own the final Wild Card slot, with three games left in the regular season.
