Deputies: Man, woman hospitalized after attempted murder-suicide

CITRUS COUNTY - A man accused of stabbing a woman in a domestic related dispute is in the hospital after an apparent suicide attempt, according to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a stabbing call in the Gospel Island community of Inverness, Fla.

The suspect fled from the scene in a White Ford Explorer after stabbing a female victim multiple times.

Deputies caught up with him on Gospel Island Road near E. Allen Drive when they heard a shot fired.

The male lost control of the Explorer and crashed into a tree, after attempting suicide, officials said.

The stabbing victim and the suspect were both flown to Ocala Regional Medical center.

Their conditions and identities are unknown at this time.
