ST. PETERSBURG - A pair of toddlers managed to crawl out of their St. Petersburg home and into the backyard pool unnoticed, and police said they nearly drowned.
It happened at 4052 38th Avenue North, where paramedics responded to a call about two kids underwater. When they arrived, adults in the home had already begun resuscitation efforts. The children, about one year old, were rushed to All Children's Hospital, where they were listed in good condition, according to police.
Multiple families live inside the home, police said, Several of those in the house were hearing impaired, and were communicating through sign language. Investigators haven't said if that was a factor when the kids made it into the pool undetected.
No charges have been filed.
