FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A North Carolina woman already accused of killing her mother with an ax in South Florida has been charged with plotting to kill her husband.
The Broward Sheriff's Office reports that 41-year-old Martha Walker was charged Thursday with conspiracy to commit murder. Another inmate told jail officials that Walker approached her last month and asked if she knew anyone who could kill her husband in North Carolina. Walker reportedly wanted to collect death benefits from his insurance.
Authorities set up a sting, where Walker reportedly agreed to pay a hit man $1,500 to kill her husband.
Walker was arrested in 2007, after authorities say Walker attacked her mother during an argument at the mother's Hollywood home.
Messages left with Walker's attorney weren't immediately returned.
