FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. - A bomb squad in St. Johns County was called in to dispose of a hand grenade in Flagler County, that the owner bought thinking it was a novelty item.
Deputies say a woman in Hammock Beach bought the item at an estate sale. She thought it was a novelty cigarette lighter, but realized something was off. She contacted the Sheriff's Office telling them she may be in possession of a live grenade.
Deputies say the grenade's firing pin had been pulled out and repaced. The bomb squad disposed of the grenade and no one was hurt.
