MIAMI - Police say a six-month-old girl died after her father apparently forgot to drop her off at daycare and left her strapped in her car seat for as long as nine hours.

Miami-Dade police say the father dropped off his older children at Doral Academy Preparatory School Tuesday morning and then drove to work. He was supposed to have taken the baby to a daycare center about 9 a.m.

The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/QwZaHi ) reports the child's brother found her when his father picked him up Tuesday afternoon. She was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The high temperature in Miami was 88 degrees Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the father told him it was not part of his normal routine to drop off the baby.

An investigation continues.
