SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - George Zimmerman told investigators that as he spoke with a police dispatcher on February 26 about a suspicious person, Trayvon Martin approached his SUV and circled it, according to an Orlando Sentinel source familiar with the investigation.
The source said Zimmerman told investigators he was rattled by Martin's actions and that he rolled up the windows. But he never told the dispatcher what was happening around him.
The source said Zimmerman's accounts of that night have remained consistent during interviews with investigators.
However, prosecutors have hinted at inconsistencies in Zimmerman's accounts.
Zimmerman, who was acting as a neighborhood watch volunteer, said he shot and killed Martin in self defense during a struggle. Some have accused him of racial profiling.
Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder and is now in hiding while he awaits his trial.
