Report: Florida could reduce teen crash deaths by adopting tougher driving laws seen in other states

A new national report on teen driving suggests Florida's number of fatal crashes could lower significantly.

The report released by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety compares teen driving laws for all 50 states.

The report suggests Florida would see a 45 percent reduction in fatal crashes among 15- to 17-year-olds if the state complied with tougher laws seen in other states.

"If every state adopted all five components of the toughest young driver laws in the nation, more than 500 lives could be saved and more than 9,500 collisions could be prevented each year," the report states.
