MIAMI - There is another sign that tropical activity in our general neighborhood may be on the increase as the 2010 hurricane season continues to heat up.

Forecasters are watching a "vigorous tropical wave" in the vicinity of the Windward Islands.

Conditions are conducive for the system, moving west at 15 mph, to become a tropical depression soon.

There is a good chance - 50 percent - that the system could grow into a tropical storm over the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Lisa is drifting northward in the distant Atlantic at about 5 mph. A turn to the west is expected in the next day or so.

Lisa currently poses no threat to land.
