VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - 13-year-old Melanie Conn doesn't know how horseplay turned into something dangerous. She says two boys surrounded her, then wrapped her in plastic wrap while they waited for the bus to school.
"We figure it goes around her 10 to 15 times. It's childish. It's at the same time very scary. This is not a joke. This could have become very serious, if they would have had a little bit more and nobody was able to get it off of her." her mother said.
She says it's bullying that's gone too far and far too long. She says the bus attendant even heard the boys threaten her daughter for two days before the incident, but did nothing.
She blames the school for not stepping in sooner.
In a statement, the Volusia County School District said it takes ever reported incident of bullying seriously and fully investigates them and, if substantiated, takes disciplinary action.
Even the mother of one of the boys says here son's action were wrong, but says none of the children involved are innocent.
A school district spokesperson says both of the boys involved were disciplined and neither will be riding the bus with Conn.
But the mother of one of the boys says her son was only was given a 10-day suspension from riding the bus.
An investigation into the bus attendant's actions is continuing.
