TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - On Friday morning, the Florida Supreme Court rejected a bipartisan challenge to Gov. Rick Scott refusing $2.4 billion in stimulus money geared towards the high-speed rail project.
In Scott’s statement following the decision, he says that he is gratified that the court provided a clear and unanimous decision. The governor said he is now focused on infrastructure projects that create long-term jobs and will help turn around Florida’s economy.
He also spoke with US DOT Secretary LaHood Friday and informed him that the state will focus on other infrastructure projects and will not move forward with any federal high speed rail plan.
