MIAMI (AP) - The Coast Guard recently seized nearly two tons of cocaine and 940 pounds of marijuana after intercepting two different speedboats in the Caribbean Sea.

The drugs were brought ashore Thursday in Key West by the cutter Dallas.

The cocaine was seized in December after crew aboard the Dallas saw people on a 40-foot speedboat dumping bales into the water near Honduras. Seventy-seven bales of cocaine with an estimated street value of $48 million were retrieved.

Four suspects were taken to the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Also in December, the Dallas intercepted a speedboat southwest of Jamaica after watching those on board dump bales into the water. That turned out to be marijuana worth about $850,000.

Three suspects in that case were turned over to Jamaican authorities.
