Casey Anthony: Two convictions of lying to law enforcement upheld, two others tossed

DAYTONA, Fla. - A Florida appeals court has thrown out two of four convictions imposed on Casey Anthony for lying to law enforcement officers following the disappearance of her daughter Caylee in 2008, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

The main question centered around whether Anthony was in the custody of officers, or under arrest, when she lied about Caylee.

Casey was acquitted of murder in 2011, but convicted on four charges of lying to law enforcement officers and sentenced to probation.

The convictions were appealed during oral arguments earlier this month.

“We reject Appellant’s first and third arguments, but conclude that double jeopardy principles require that two of her four misdemeanor convictions be set aside,” the Fifth District Court of Appeal said in its ruling.
