FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - 'Today' show interviews 13-year-old charged in connection with Ratley beating Kayla Manson says she didn't see text in which Wayne Treacy allegedly threatened to kill Deerfield Beach Middle School student

The 13-year-old girl charged in connection with the brutal attack of Josie Lou Ratley says she didn't think the 15-year-old suspect would physically assault her friend.

Appearing Thursday on NBC's "Today" show, Kayla Manson said she didn't see a text in which her friend Wayne Treacy allegedly threatened to kill 15-year-old Deerfield Beach Middle School student Ratley.

Manson said she believed Treacy would probably yell at Ratley, and that she didn't see the attack.

Authorities say Treacy went to the middle school and got Manson to help him find Ratley. Treacy is accused of punching and stomping on Ratley with steel-toe boots.

She was left in critical condition and suffered brain damage.
