WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -  Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich is stepping in for Herman Cain in headlining a Palm Beach County event.

The Palm Beach Post (http://bit.ly/u1JnwB ) reports the former House speaker is taking Cain's spot as keynote speaker at the Palm Beach County Republican Party's Lincoln Day dinner on Jan. 28.

Cain was due to address the crowd but abandoned his presidential aspirations earlier this month amid allegations of sexual improprieties, which he denies.

It's the second straight year Gingrich is taking part in the Lincoln Day event. He also headlined last year.

This year's event comes three days ahead of Florida's presidential primary.
