NAPLES, Fla. - Authorities say a man died when his kayak overturned in a lake in an East Naples community.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Carli Segelson says 65-year-old Walter Coutu was alone when the kayak tipped over Monday afternoon. He was underwater for about 15 minutes.
The Naples Daily News (http://bit.ly/u45RiV ) reports that neighbor Hanz Lange saw Coutu in distress and swam about 125 feet into the lake to try to help. The 71-year-old Lange says he was able to pull Coutu about 30 feet before the man took a last gasp and went under.
Authorities found Coutu's body about 15 minutes after they arrived.
