MIAMI - MIAMI (AP) — The owner of a Miami health care agency has pleaded guilty for his role in a $60 million home health Medicare fraud scheme.
Rodolfo Nieto Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud in Miami federal court on Tuesday.
According to the court documents, Nieto accepted kickbacks in return for recruiting Medicare beneficiaries to be placed at a Miami home health agency that purported to provide home health care and physical therapy services to Medicare beneficiaries. The owners of another home health agency allegedly paid Nieto kickbacks in return for allowing them to bill the Medicare program on behalf of the patients Nieto had recruited.
