ORLANDO, Fla. - More than 2,300 child welfare officials and advocates are heading to Orlando this week for the Child Protection Summit.
Department of Children and Families Secretary David Wilkins and Attorney General Pam Bondi are among the speakers.
Bondi will discuss the rise of prescription drug abuse in the state and how it's driving more children into foster care in Florida.
The summit starts Wednesday and will gather foster and adoptive parents, advocates, law enforcement and private contractors from around the state to discuss ways to better serve the nearly 20,000 kids in foster care.
