Authorities caution about heat and fireworks

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -  Florida's Fourth of July is going to be hot, real hot.

State officials on Tuesday cautioned citizens about the holiday heat they say could reach 105 degrees across many parts of Florida.

Florida deputy state meteorologist Michelle Palmer said Tuesday that those celebrating the Fourth outdoors should drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and those who head for the beach need to check for possible riptides.  Beaches along the coast from Volusia to Miami-Dade County, as well as those along the Panhandle coast from Escambia through Franklin County could see a moderate risk of rip currents through the weekend.

Some Panhandle counties across north Florida may also be at a heightened risk for wildfires.
