2 winning tickets to share $579.9 million jackpot in November 28, 2012 Powerball lottery drawing

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Powerball lottery officials say two winning tickets were sold in Wednesday night's drawing. The tickets, sold in Arizona and Missouri, will split a Powerball record jackpot of $579.9 million.

The cash value lump sum option is worth an estimated $379.8 million.

Wednesday's numbers were 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and a Powerball of 6.

There had been 16 consecutive drawings without someone matching all the winning numbers.

The $579.9 million jackpot was the second largest for a lottery in the United States. In March 2012, three tickets split a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot.

There were a total of 765,804 winning tickets in Florida. Four tickets in the state matched all five numbers and are worth $1 million. Two other tickets played the Power Play and matched all five numbers and are worth $2 million.

Forty-four tickets matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000. An additional four tickets played the Power Play and matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $40,000.

Before Wednesday's drawing, the largest winning Powerball ticket sold was in February 2006 when workers at a Nebraska meatpacking plant split a $365 million jackpot.
