Speed-dating themed event held for non-profits to find their match with community partners

TAMPA - Building a network and finding success as a non-profit in the current economy can be a real challenge, but one Tampa corporation hopes to spark up some professional connections for multiple agencies Thursday, speed-dating style.

The University Area Community Development Corporation is hosting “Make Your Non-profit Love Match”, a summit where attendees will follow a speed dating format. Participants will have an intimate sit down with leaders from agencies for a few minutes, exchange cards and then move on to someone else once a bell rings.

The goal of the summit is to help non-profits foster beneficial relationships with other community resources.

The program also wants to find opportunities to create solutions for community problems and problems in the non-profit sector, including gaps, duplications and barriers to accessing resources.

Participants will also get the chance to discuss key matters in housing, employment and health among other topics with industry experts.

The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the University Area Community Center, located at 14013 North 22nd Street  in Tampa.

The speed dating segment is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Nonprofits can register online  or go to the UACDC website at www.uacdc.org to print a registration form. There is a $20 admission fee that includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
