MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - The new products Google is rolling out online came just in time for the first of the month.
If you've ever wanted to know what something smells like, Google collected the scents of thousands of items using street sense vehicles and android ambient odor detection units and uploaded them online for your smelling pleasure. Either you’ll have the most amazing olfactory experience of your life, or it’s just an April Fool’s joke.
Here are some examples in the tech scents in the Google nose “aroma base”
Abraham Lincoln smells of "old, musty, remnant of American history"
An old hotel room smells of “Air freshener and scandal”
A college dorm has whiffs of sweat with scents of leftover pizza and burnt popcorn."
Google also released an April Fool’s update for its Google maps. The “Treasure Mode" claimed users could solve a mystery involving a treasure map that once belonged to Captain Kidd.
