Online education charity facilitator, DonorsChoose.org, is teaming up with Google to offer discounted Chromebooks to teachers for their classrooms.

Chromebooks - lightweight, fast-booting laptops - boast the ability to switch quickly between users, automatically backup on Google Drive, include built-in virus protection and come pre-loaded with popular Chrome applications like Search, Gmail, YouTube and Google+ Hangouts. The retail price is $399 but until Dec. 21, teachers can buy up to 30 Chromebooks for $99 each.

DonorsChoose.org says "The Chromebook is a new type of web-based computer designed to make learning with technology easier. Chromebooks work in classrooms that have reliable wi-fi access and use web apps for students learning. "

Teachers have until Dec. 21 to register for a DonorsChoose.org account and request the discounted Chromebooks. Making a DonorsChoose.org account also means teachers can post the project on the site to ask parents and donors to help raise the money to pay for the discounted Chromebooks.
