UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA - A 17-year-old University of South Florida student was raped in a residence hall room after a party last weekend, University Police said.

The girl was at a dorm room party in the Magnolia Apartments, on campus, Saturday and was accompanied back to her room by two male acquaintances, where the attack occured.

"We believe a sexual battery occured," said University Police Lt. Meg Ross. "We are in the process of gathering evidence and conducting an investigation."

Ross confirmed the victim knows at least one of the suspects. It is possible the victim was drugged, said Ross.

It is the third rape reported on the USF campus so far this year.
