TAMPA BAY - A motorcyclist and a scooter driver died after they collided Sunday night on the Causeway Boulevard Bridge in Tampa.
Officers say around 9:07 p.m. the driver of a 1986 Kawasaki Motorcycle was going northbound on Causeway Boulevard at a high rate of speed. When the motorcyclist crested the bridge, he came upon a slower moving 2012 VIP scooter which he could not avoid striking.
The driver of the Kawasaki and his passenger were both ejected from the motorcycle. They were airlifted to Tampa General Hospital where the driver died a short time later. The passenger remains in critical condition.
The driver of the scooter died at the scene of the accident.
The names of those involved in the accident have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
