TAMPA - Two more arrests have been made in connection to the Occupy Tampa movement, according to Tampa Police reports.
Alexander Schlegel was arrested for skateboarding in the Curtis Hixon park while Rene Jones was arrested for trespassing at the park Thursday morning.
The park has been one of the central locations where participants in the Occupy Tampa movement gather to protest.
Authorities were called to the park around 9:40 a.m. because Schlegel, 20, was skateboarding in the park, which is against city ordinances.
Officers tried to tell him that he was not allowed to do that at the park and there were other areas designated for skateboarding, but Schlegel ignored the warnings, according to the police report.
After several requests, the suspect became argumentative and he was arrested.
About 40 minutes later, authorities said Jones, 22, was trespassing after he refused to move tarps, chairs and other items.
Police told him he was trespassing and needed to leave, but the defendant refused, officers said.
He was taken into custody.
This makes the eighth arrest made in the Occupy Tampa movement.
Six people were arrested on October 21 for failing to comply with city ordinances.
