MIAMI - Tropical Storm Ingrid formed in the Bay of Campeche Friday morning near Veracruz, Mexico. It is the ninth named storm of the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season.
Tropical storm warnings and watches are in effect for the region.
At 11 a.m., Ingrid had top winds of 45 mph and was moving to the west at 2 mph. A turn to the north-northwest is expected late tonight or Saturday.
Some additional strengthening is in the forecast.
Ingrid will move very close to the Mexican coast during the next couple of days and is not expected to affect the weather here in Florida.
