MIAMI - As of the 11 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Humberto was located 85 miles south-southeast of Fogo in the Cape Verde Islands.
Maximum sustained winds had increased to 45 mph as the system moved to the west at 12 mph. This motion should continue today.
A turn toward the west-northwest, with a decrease in forward speed, is expected by Tuesday.
On the forecast track, the center of Humberto will pass south of the southern Cape Verde Islands Monday afternoon and tonight and pass west of the islands Tuesday.
Strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Humberto could become a hurricane sometime during the next few days.
