TAMPA - The intersection of Fletcher Ave and Nebraska Ave in Tampa is closed in all directions for an undetermined amount of time due to a sinkhole that opened up in the middle of the intersection.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the sinkhole is approximately 6 feet in diameter and approximately 8 feet deep.
The intersection will be closed during rush hour traffic tonight and it is unknown when it will be reopened. Motorists are being asked to take an alternate route.
It's estimated that 42,000 vehicles travel through the intersection on a typical day.
