TAMPA - Tethering your dog in Hillsborough County isn't illegal, but if proposed rules are passed this year, it could come with lots of restrictions. The County's Animals Advisory Committee is proposing rules that would determine the length and weight of a tether along with other restrictions.
Some animal experts believe tethering a dog for long periods causes aggression and other behavior problems. A tethered dog can also be a danger to children and other animals.
Hillsborough County wants your input on the proposed rules. Go to their website to read the proposed ordinance and weigh in.
